For more than 6 years, the Breezeway Pub has been our home. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve danced our asses off, we’ve beaten each other in drunken rages, and have probably flashed more skin than we intended. The great bartenders and staff at the Breezeway have always made us feel welcome and at home as we partied many a Thursday evening away. But, while we have grown together in size and majesty, a bar can only physically grow so far. With Rez having reached the point where we are regularly reaching the maximum number of people allowed inside by the fire code, we had to make a difficult decision. Do we stay with our longtime friends at the Breezeway, or do we seek a new home that will allow us to continue to grow?

After many weeks of debate, we have decided it was time to move on. We will always be grateful to the Breezeway for hosting us for so long, and wish them a fond farewell and hopes for great future business. A new era for Resurrection begins on 6/6 as we move down the street a couple of blocks… to Doogie’s Bar & Grill!

Remember Doogie? He used to be one of our bartenders at the Breezeway. Well, he’s got his own place now, and it suits our growing needs perfectly! Located at 37 Manchester Street (right across from the Citizen’s Bank parking garage and the Palace Theatre), with ample local parking, two large rooms, and a secluded off-street smoking area, Doogie’s provides us with just the space we need. There’s a dance floor, pool table, and plenty of seating. The lights and sound are simply stunning. The bar is fully stocked, the kitchen is ready. And there’s plenty of room for us to get bigger and better and MORE RESURRECTION!!!

Again we wish to thank the Breezeway and its staff for all of their hard work and the love they’ve shown us over the years. Our time with them is something we will always cherish. And now we look ahead as we move towards a whole new home and a whole new set of great memories!

DJ Pet takes a break and turns the decks over to up and coming DJs from Maine, New Hampshire, and Mass. You can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs

This is a contest to see who gets a prime time slot in the fall. We are going to divide up the 4 hours into 8x 30 minute sets to be drawn from a hat. The club patrons can vote on their favorites and the most number of votes wins! There will also be a category for bragging rights (Plague vs. Rez) so Maine better be represented!

It’s been a long, long road.  Finally, in late 2003, 5 people, including myself sat in a booth in the Nashua Bickfords on Amherst St. (Now Chipotle’s) wondering what to do.  We landed on the idea of doing a goth night right there in Nashua!  And so, on September 2, 2003, we started Emergence at Wolfy’s bar on Canal St.  In June 2004, we moved to Dania’s on Main St. Around that time, I backed out of the staff, preferring to maintain a good friendship with Star, the main promoter of the night.  Emergence faded away in the winter of 2004/2005.

In July, 2005, ManRay closed it’s doors. We all pined for a place to unwind.

I waited a year after the end of Emergence out of respect for my friends who ran it and then approached the new owners of the old place on Main St., and on February 2, 2006, Nashua once again had a goth night.  With the help of DJ AddamBombb and DJ Sillah, we ushered in the first Resurrection at Cinco’s night club.  This was a great venue right up till it closed in May.

So a few months more searching and Resurrection was uhh… Resurrected at The Breezeway Pub in Manchester on the 7th of December, 2006, where it is now.

Over the time I ran Resurrection, I almost always had a “head DJ” who would spin regularly in exchange for scheduling the other DJs.  These have included DJ Sillah, DJ 523, DJ Rabid Angel, and DJ Pet.  Often times, I had less opportunity to interact with our guest DJs than I had wanted.  Recently, this gave rise that I was not doing anything or that I had already passed on the workings of the night to my head DJ.  Hurray for delegating too much!

This past March, Angel, Bear, & Lee approached me about taking over the night.  Had they asked this of me a year or even six months previous, I would have told them to take a hike.  Sadly, recent experiences and private dramas convinced me that it was time to step away.  Resurrection was slowly becoming something very different from the event I had started and run for 6 years.  And so it was decided that the baton would be passed slowly from March through April, allowing for a smooth transition.  I was about 80% hands-off for the last event and was around to answer questions and I will be totally hands-off from here on out.

I cannot thank enough the people who helped me over the years.  In no particular order, except that I’m trying to think chronologically: Columbine (for convincing me I could do this), Cusraque (for teaching me how),  Star, Karen, Adam, Doug, Karen, Sillah, Ryan, Angel, Bear, Lee, Nelsone, Rabid Angel, Wendi, Darcy, Delia, Naralie, Shadow, Rags, Xero, Purple, a whole host of totally amazing DJs from all over the world, and most of all YOU, because without you, our patrons, there would be no Resurrection.

What’s next? Well, that’s up to the new proprietors.  As for me, I’ll be working on an event management company to create bigger events.  You’ll hear about it when the time comes.  To the artists out there, definitely keep me in your Rolodex.  I ain’t out of the biz.  To the rest of you, thank you!  I’ll be around.  Send me hugs love, and ideas for great events that I can conjure out of thin air!

Resurrection Masquerade
